Writing Wednesday: Sarah Ballance tells us about TIDE OF LIES

Hey beautiful people!

I'm absolutely thrilled and delighted to welcome back fellow Noble Romance author, Sarah Ballance, to the blog today. Lol - this lovely lady thinks she wrecked some havoc on here the last time she visited. I wish to tell her "the more the merrier", and that she can come create madness anytime, as long as she keeps giving us the amazing stories she writes!

The one she's telling us about today has all the hallmarks of an awesome romantic suspense! But I'll let Sarah tell you more about it herself. :)

So, Sarah, floor's yours!

I am absolutely delighted to be allowed back to the casa de Zee. (Guess the insurance came through on the damages after the last visit, lol.) Thanks so much for having me! The beachy theme rocking this blog is the perfect place to show off my new romantic suspense, TIDE OF LIES. Why? Because the story takes place at the seaside community of Barrier Shoals, where secrets and lies create quite a contrast to the sun, surf, and sand. Want to learn more about this sensual romantic thriller? Please, read on!

A devastating secret. A shocking betrayal. A deadly obsession.

Haunted by three unsolved murders, Detective Holden Whitlow is stunned when his cold case takes a heated turn. Julia Cohen, his ex-lover, is back in town, and in the face of a brutal attack she's ready to run. No matter how tightly she holds her secrets, for Holden, turning away from the woman he's spent a decade trying to forget isn't any more an option than walking away from his job . . .even when it threatens to cost Julia her life.

Julia is still reeling from a past she can't bear to face. When she becomes the target of a killer, fate throws her back into Holden's arms, but she's yet to recover from a truth that has stripped her of everything—and everyone—she loves. Will she tell him the secret that will destroy him, or will her lie destroy them both?

Mini-Excerpt—Holden and Julia

Holden swept her hair from her face, drawing her to look at him. "Why are you here?"
"You made me come?"
One of his brows lifted. "I am, of course, referring to the period before you became a part of my investigation."
"I told you I wanted to talk to you. The notes . . . the threats."
"And I told you I don't believe in coincidences."
Yeah, there was that.
"Did you come here because of my case, or did you come here because of me?"
Oh, crap. There was a truth about the past somewhere inside her, but it burrowed a little deeper every time she looked at him. How had she never before noticed the earthen flecks of color rippling through those eyes? "I'm not who you think I am," she blurted.
Holden leaned forward, settling with his shoulder against the back of the sofa so he faced her. Holding her—captivating her—with his gaze, he said, "Until today, I didn't even know your name. Convincing me I knew less will be a hard sell."

Maybe, Holden, but brace yourself. She's not kidding! *grin* If you'd like to know more, you can read the entire first chapter for free at Noble Romance. (No registration required—just head to the link below and click the excerpt tab!)

Sarah and her husband of almost fifteen what he calls "long, long" years live on the mid-Atlantic coast with their six young children, all of whom are perfectly adorable when they're asleep.  She often jokes that she writes to be around people who will listen to her, but her characters aren't much better than her kids.  Fortunately, her husband is quite supportive, having generously offered to help her research "the good parts" . . .  and she's never had to ask twice.

This one's going on my TBR list - how about you? :)

From Mauritius with love,

So, the die hard fan showed up again! I love everything about Tide of Lies and think it's a great romantic suspense read.

Did the title come about because of this statement "Because the story takes place at the seaside community of Barrier Shoals, where secrets and lies create quite a contrast to the sun, surf, and sand."?

Love this fabulous line: "Until today, I didn't even know your name. Convincing me I knew less will be a hard sell."

Way to go, Sarah! ;o)

Sarah congrats on the wonderful book.. I know I've said it before..

Sarah Ballance said...

@Sheri, WOW! Thanks so much. That's quite a comment, LOL!

@Karen,I don't have a real origin for the title. It sort of came out of thin air and pre-dated that sentence quite a bit, but the concept was there, sure. ;c) And I'm glad you like that line -- it's one of my faves!

@Savannah, Thank you so much! It means a lot no matter how many times you say it. *grin*
