It's a bright & sunny Sunday here in Mauritius - that perfect time just on the edges of summer and preparing for the cooler days of fall & winter. Ideal time to sit down in your front room with a cup of frothy coffee and a good read; from time to time, you look up and glance at the brilliant light outside and that's spilling through the French windows on your terrace. Hmmm, perfect for Six Sentence Sunday!
So, where were we with those excerpts? Still in Surrey, inside the double-fronted Victorian manor. We left hunky doctor Jamie Gillespie with uptight forensic pathologist Margo Nolan in Margo's kitchen last week. Margo's tween daughter, Emma, is causing some ripples in Margo's life, and Jamie's just proposed to help...
What will Margo reply?
The excerpt from last week was the cliffie ending of Chapter 3. Today, we move to the next six in the read - start of Chapter 4, Margo's POV.
'...
What is he asking? The soft pressure of his fingers on her knuckles blew another fuse in her rational brain.
Focus, Nolan; stop acting like a slow-witted airhead - she glanced up, her eyes searching for his.
Bad move; because a clump of functioning neurons went up in smoke when she encountered the dark brown depths of his eyes; expectation, and something else, swirled in them.
Heat...unabashed longing - Margo gulped; what did the bloke want, after all?
Concentrate. ...'
Don't forget to check the rest of the SSS posse list today - surefire goodies can be found at Siobhan Muir, Sarah Ballance, Jessica E. Subject, Christine Warner, Cara Bristol, & Sue, among many, many others! :)
Have a lovely Sunday, peeps!
From Mauritius with love,

Lol Jess - he has that kind of effect, indeed! :) xoxo
Thanks Lisa! :)
Nice one, Zee!
Nice six!
Wonderful internal monologue and description. As always! :)
Love the exchange, great snippet!
first off thanks for the shout out :D second - you may be going into winter but we went straight from winter to summer and third - those pesky neurons going off - wonder when she'll realise she doesn't have a chance...
You do such a great job with creating these intense, intimate moments. I love it!
I enjoyed the scientific terminology usage here: it fits your character's need for the black and white and how it's not benefitting her at all here!
LOL! Awesome six!! Love her voice!
Love how distracted she is! He has quite an impact on her.
"a clump of functioning neurons went up in smoke" << Freaking LOVE this! Can't wait to see more of this story! (And I'm incredibly honored to be on your list of mentions. *grin*) I am scowling a little, however, because you're making cold weather sound *good* and darn it, I'm sick of winter! LOL. ;c)
That was a fantastic six! I love your wording, especially about her neurons going up in smoke.
Thank you, Guilie!! xoxo
Thanks Dee! Glad you could come over :)
Awww, Cate! Thank you! *grin*
Glad you liked it, Gemma :)
Lol Sue - weather's not what it used to be any longer! And yes, Margo is stubborn and pig-headed. For once, she's refusing to see the truth right in the eye :)
Thanks JM, that's so sweet of you! Glad you like how she sounds - I thought a lot about how a woman in her shoes would react and conceive of life - happy that came through :) xoxo
Thanks Jennifer! :)
He is having one hell of an impact, Cara! Poor Margo... Not! :)
Sarah, you're welcome about the mention. Love your sixes :)
Oh believe me, in another 2-3 months, I'll be screaming and yelling and whining about winter and the cold. But right now, I've had enough of this super heat we've been having :)
Thanks Kate! That was an attempt to get into Margo's shoes - glad it worked :)
I love the "unabashed longing" *swoons*. Great six Zee!!!
Concentrate?! I forgive Margo for not being able to concentrate. Yikes! Lovely Zee!
Totally loved the two metaphors you used, it really put me in her head and in the moment and I could totally feel her inability to concentrate! Great 6!
Her mental state is perfectly transferred to the reader. Great six!
Loved this....your word choice was excellent Zee!
Love Margo's point of view and voice!
Wow, he's better than alcohol! :D Fun six, Zee.

Fantastic description of her reaction!
Oh goodness, Nolan, you're in trouble here!

Lol DeAnna! What can I say - Jamie's got expressive eyes :)
Totally agree, Wildcat's Wife! I would've been in the same predicament :)
Aww, thanks Angela! Glad I could put you there in the scene :)
